F&I 26 Fashion Show: A Remarkable Celebration of Creativity and Young Talent

September 5, 2026

The beginning of fashion is an idea. However, putting that idea into life is much more than a creative process. Research, experimentation, feedback and discipline is required to make an idea better until it's ready for the runway. NIF Global students have just done that at the F&I 2026 on 2nd May. There were over 150 students who showcased their creativity. They worked on 17 themes and eight garments for each theme were developed, which meant that the showcase was a huge creative process for the students. It allows them to take an idea from conception to completion of the garment collection. These types of shows are essential for the students to consider who wants to judge the best fashion design institute. Education in fashion is not a mere theoretical learning. It is also about the development, display and improvement of work. At NIF Global Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, you get this. How Does a Student’s Idea Become a Collection? The process started with themes. A variety of categories were provided to students, and they worked in pairs or groups of eight or less. They started by giving their interpretation of the theme they had selected, and then they started their garments. After choosing the theme, the design process was initiated. However, students were not left alone to make all the decisions. A jury session took place each Friday where students shared their work and were given expert advice. The jury assisted them in judging the trajectory of their collection, problem-solving and keeping on track with deadlines. This process was ongoing during the development and provided students with frequent feedback instead of just at the final showcase. This is a process that is significant to what a student experiences in a Fashion Design College. Establishes a design cycle of feedback, refinement and execution. What Were the 17 Themes About? The themes provided a students with the space to examine quite different aspects of fashion. These were divided into four categories: Avant Artistry (experimental fashion and conceptual designs), Design for Nature (sustainability and conscious innovation), World Mosaic (global cultures and art influences) and Fashion for a Cause (social awareness through clothing). Of these, Avant Garde was the most creative and experimental. It provided students with the liberty to go beyond traditional fashion and to think about concepts which were conceptual and very expressive. If you are taking fashion design classes, you may find it helpful to learn about various design styles to realize that fashion can have multiple looks. It might be artistic, cultural, social, experimental or very personal. How Did Students Interpret These Themes? The collections demonstrated how a single theme can be executed in very different, creative ways. For example She Fight theme was introduced and was very social on the ramp because influencers walked. Another collection added to the walk was Love is Love, where participants walked the catwalk dressed in vibrant colors representing the LGBTQ+ community, proving the collection to be a celebration for identity, acceptance and inclusivity. A few students also did some Indian crafts but presented them in a contemporary way. Instead of just copying the old methods, they were interested in the idea of adapting traditional craft to silhouettes and designs that are relevant. Friday Jury Process Helped The Students  Fashion education should not only be a garment design. Students should also be taught to defend their opinions, take criticism and make adjustments following feedback from experts. The weekly jury made just that very experience. Students were required to showcase their work frequently. They had to define their direction and know areas for improvement in the collection. They were also required to work on time. It is similar to the way that a professional design environment functions. Ideas are shared, explored and developed before they are finalized. This is a viable option for students who are still confused about the best fashion design institute in Gujarat. The classroom is no longer just a learning technique classroom. It is a place where students learn to think like fashion designers. What Did the Students Actually Create? Across 17 themes, each theme featured eight garments, creating a diverse showcase of ideas, techniques and visual narratives. rom simply learning fashion through theory. Students get to see how an idea develops into a complete collection. What do students think they learned from the Fashion Showcase? The 2nd of May was no ordinary runway. It provided students with the opportunity to develop ideas into collections with 150+ students, 17 themes and 8 garments per theme. They have been learning to present their ideas, manage time, listen to and incorporate expert comments and improve their designs through weekly jury sessions. From Avant Garde and Indian crafts to social issues and architectural inspiration, the collections covered everything, and demonstrated how a theme can be interpreted in many different ways.  This hands-on experience provides students with an opportunity to apply their creativity and knowledge through research, feedback and execution, and have an understanding of fashion outside of the classroom. Students should check out all of these when selecting the best fashion design institute in Ahmedabad, best fashion design institute in Gandhinagar or anywhere in Gujarat.
